FAQ's

Planning a wedding can be mega exciting – but, at times a bit stressful too right?  All I want to say is that I’ll be taking some of that stress away from you.  I’ve shot about 300 weddings (and counting) and I’ve got your back!

What style of photography do you shoot?

Some people call it a docu-style with a slice of creativity thrown in and I’ll go with that.  Authentic, real and relaxed.  Zero fixed grins, negative cheese.  People being people, being themselves.  People are wonderfully unique.  Personalities are wonderfully unique.  Loud, quiet, wild, shy, adventurous, reserved.  It’s all good food for the camera.  If you get the chance, please take a look through my featured weddings to get a good feel for my photography and how I shoot.

Do we meet you before the wedding to talk about our plans?

Absolutely.  Please just get in touch if you are interested in booking an informal, no-obligations meet-up about your wedding plans at your choice of Norfolk location.  If you are a bit further afield perhaps an old-fashioned phone-call may work?  After having a natter and showing you some of my imagery then its up to you.  Zero pressure.  If you decide that you would like to crack on with a booking then I will send you some deposit details and arrange another meet-up closer to your wedding date to talk through your wedding plans.  I believe in building a rapport prior to the wedding day and you can’t beat a good ol’ fashioned face-to-face chat to do this.

Are you a full-time professional photographer?

Yes.  I have been a photographer in various guises for about 18 years.  The majority of this time was spent as a photographer in the Royal Navy before concentrating on weddings a few years ago.  This is what I do, full-time professionally.  I have a total passion for it and I am 100% in love with my job!

How long do you stay on the day?

My main packages all involve a full day’s coverage from bridal prep (your call on this but usually between 9 – 10am) all the way through to 10:30pm (so that I can get involved with the party and capture all of those crazy dance moves!).

Do you photograph the actual ceremony?

I have never not been able to yet.  I am very discreet and you will never know that I am there during the ceremony – I only use natural light (no flash) in the ceremony and keep my shots to an absolute minimum.  I always touch base with the registrar or vicar on the day to reassure them of how discreetly I shall be capturing your ceremony.

Do you charge for travel costs?

No.  I don’t charge travel costs for any wedding throughout East Anglia.  Further afield there will be a minimal cost to cover fuel.  For destination weddings I ask that my travel is paid for in full though.

What areas do you cover?

I predominantly cover the East Anglia region in the UK but If you live further afield or wish me to cover your overseas destination wedding then please get in touch.

Do you require a meal on the day?

No.  I always take my own food on the day and will typically nip away for 20 minutes whilst you and your guests are tucking into your wedding meal main course.  If you wish to provide me with something to eat that would of course be fantastic (no dietary requirements, I love all food)  – I would never say no, but please don’t feel that you have to.

What do you wear on the day?

I’m always suited and booted (minus a tie as it hinders my camera skills!) as I like to look sharp, get involved and fit in with your wedding day.

Do you take any formal or group photos?

Some weddings that I shoot ask for a few formal groups to be taken and I totally get why brides and grooms ask for them, it’s not for them but more for their parents and grandparents who kinda expect them.  I get it – I’ve got kids and perhaps one day I shall want that same shot with them!  No problem.  A good number of group shots is between 4-8 but it’s your call.

How many photos do you take on the day?

I do not limit the amount of photos that I take on the day.  I just keep shooting.  After your day you will typically have over 800 fully edited shots from a full day’s coverage to look back on.

Who will take our photographs?

I will!  I do not have anybody else working under my banner.

What do we do if it rains?

Always a big worry for brides and grooms but it doesn’t have to be!  You just have to embrace whatever the weather brings you.  Some of my favourite shots have been taken in wet, windy conditions.  I can tell you now from experience that my brides and grooms 100% do not care on the day.  They are having such a great day that they honestly barely even notice.  To get out in it you just need little 10 minute breaks in it, a pair of wellies and a brolly!

Help!  I don’t like my photo being taken!

You are not alone!  I understand that a lot of people do not like having their photo taken (even my Sarah is the same and she really should be used to it by now!).  I work very naturally.  I don’t home-in on the bride and groom all-day – I capture everybody doing their thing.  I never ask anybody to hold a smile for me or hold each other in a weird way.  I don’t take my couples away for hours – I pretty much ask for 15 minutes of your time to get the shots that are seen throughout my website.  I’m all about the genuine, authentic moments between two people.  Take a look through my wedding portfolios and you will see!

Do we get black and white photos too?

Yes.  On your USB of imagery you will have every edited photo in colour + black and white.  Your password-protected online wedding gallery will be a mixture of both but rest assured you will always have the option to choose between them on your USB.

When can I see my photographs?

All of your wedding photos are finished with high-quality post-processing and your fully edited imagery will be available to view via your online wedding gallery 2 weeks after your wedding date.  Your set of images on your USB will also be sent to you within 2 weeks.

Can I let other people see my wedding photos?

Yes absolutely – I know that you will love your wedding photos and I want you to share and show your guests!  Your online wedding gallery is password protected but please feel free to pass on that link and password to whoever you wish.

Can my friends and family purchase any prints?

Yes they can from my website at a fractional mark-up.  Remember though, you will have the high-resolution images as well so you could pass the images onto them directly if you wish.

Are you insured?

Absolutely.  I carry full public liability insurance.

How do we secure our date with you?

By paying the deposit of £300 which comes off your balance.  I will also send you a link to an online wedding photography contract which will need to be viewed and signed.  The balance is payable 1 month prior to your wedding date.  If for any reason you paid the full amount and you had to cancel (even within the 1 month prior to your wedding date) the most that you would lose is £300 – and that is only if I couldn’t accommodate your new date.  I’m not interested in taking money for work that I haven’t done.  If you are interested in booking me please get in touch to arrange a no-obligations consultation and / or request some booking details.

Where can we find out more about your wedding imagery and packages?

Please take a look through my galleries and blog to see how I approach weddings.  Learn a little more about me, my style and philosophy through the ‘About Me’ page.  Check out my transparent pricing policy through my Pricing page.  Then get in touch using the contact form or give me a bell.  We can then arrange a no-obligations meet-up so that I can show you some more of my imagery and you can tell me of your cool wedding plans.  It would be great to hear from you!
